Home Steel Structures |
As seen on TV News |
|
Since Colonial time the housing construction in the United States has been based on wooden structures due to the influence of the English Culture and the abundant forests from which raw material was obtained. Today mature forests over 30 years old have already been harvested, leaving only 10% of their trees available. In the United States most of the forests of this generation are 5 to 10 years away from harvest age. Wood prices have been rising in such a way that the National Association of Home Builders estimates that in the last two years the Cost of a Structure for an average house increased $5,000.00 U.S. Dlls. Today, housing construction based on wood frames presents many inconveniences; i.e., costs, construction time, and quality control. |
National Forecasting indicates that wood prices will continue to increase.
Due to the need to cut younger trees, the wood quality has significantly diminished. for example, a piece of 2" x 4" number one grade lumber, is equivalent to a grade three ten years ago.
